The Devils seemed to find it very difficult to find the target against the Canadeins in their match at Bell Center as they registered their first loss in eight road games on Saturday night. Andrei’s power play goal in the third period broke the 1 – 1 deadlock helped the Canadein to win the tie in Montreal. The loss to the Canadeins has sent the Devils to the second place in the Eastern Conference behind Montreal. Brian Gionta, the right winger of the devils was the only performing face in the New Jersey offense on Saturday night and the slump in the form of the New Jersey forwards were clearly visible in this game as well as the last three games they have played.
The two game road trip of the New Jersey Devils concludes with a match on Tuesday in Toronto and will be followed a home game against the Tampa Bay on Friday night. Gionta is the only bright forward in the Devils team right now and has so far scored 5 goals and six assists for eleven points in the last 15 games he has played. The goaltender of the Canadien team made as many as 31 saves and his Devils counterpart, Brodeur, had made 23 saves in the match.
