The Phoenix Coyotes has signed top scoring player of Wisconsin Kyle Turris last Monday by virtue of an entry level contract. The center player is one of the prized catches for the Coyotes as he was ranked the second best prospect in the NHL League. Turris was the star for the Wisconsin University where he scored 11 goals and 25 assists in 36 games. He was instrumental in the Canadian team win the world junior hockey championship title.
Turris has been performing consistently well for the past two years and is at the prime form of his life. In the 2006-07 seasons, Turris won the most valuable player award while he was playing for the British Columbia Hockey League and had made 55 assists and 66 points in his 53 game stints. The last three first round picks made by Coyotes have all been under contract and fans are hoping that the badger’s center proves to be a star performer for the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Pittsburgh Penguin boys were at the top of their game last Sunday when they displayed a clinical performance to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers by 7-1 courtesy of twin goals by both Malkin and Sykora. The victory for the Penguins came without their top player, Sidney Crosby, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. The Penguins dominated the entire game leaving the Flyers no place to take cover for their humiliating performance. Penguins have now won five of their last six straight games and have scored 7 goals in two consecutive matches. The Penguins with this emphatic win moves into the 2nd place of the Atlantic division and Eastern Conference, behind the New Jersey team.
The strong offensive line up of the Pittsburgh Penguins will be further strengthened with the addition of Crosby into the team and Crosby who is the leading scorer in the NHL has not played a single game since his ankle injury in January. The Flyers coach John Stevens accepted the fact that there were several lapses in the defensive tactics of his team that left the gate open for Malkin to score freely. Malkin said that he was pretty much satisfied with his performance for the Penguins and wanted to score more points for his team in the future as well.

If the Washington Capitals win tonight at the Toronto’s Air Canada Centre it will be their first 5 game streak of wins in seven years.
With Monday’s 6-5 win over Pittsburgh the Capitals took their season-high streak of wins to four games . The Capitas Alexander Semin came up with the game-winning goal in the final round for Washington. Semin skated toward the net and finished with an impressive backhand past goalie Ty Conklin to clench the victory. Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals, and Viktor Kozlov has his second two goal game in a row. The last time this time won five games in a row was March, 2001.
Moreover Ovechkin has scored six goals and four assists in the last five games. The Russian player is leading the league with 38 goals. Ovechkin has scored at least one goal in every one of his last five games while Kozlov has four goals in his last two contests. It would appears as though Washington is going to cause a ruckus in the Southeast Division. Washington has won five of their last seven games against the Maple Leafs and three of the last four in Toronto.

The Philadelphia Flyers finished up season 2007 on a positive note, winning three straight to end the calendar year. However, during the four days of 2008, they already showed that their 2008 start leaves much to be desired and has plenty of room for improvement. The Flyers will try to rehabilitate themselves as they continue a six-game road trip Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leaves.

How do you, personally, get your morning started?
Mark Hartigan, a professional ice hockey centre, currently playing for the Detroit Red Wings, eats his breakfast from the Stanley Cup. When he appeared in one playoff with the NHL champion Anaheim Ducks previous season, one day with the Cup was guaranteed. So, he flew to his father’s house in Fort McMurray, Alberta in late August and paraded the Stanley Cup all over the town. After this Mark held a hush-hush party lasted until around 5 a.m. Waking up the next morning, he puts some Froot Loops and milk into the Cup and enjoys the Champions’ breakfast with his newborn daughter Ava.
